African Dance & Drum
We are thrilled at the prospect of hosting Theo Martey of the Manchester-based Akwaaba Ensemble, a traditional African dance and drum ensemble, for an outdoor summer African dance and drum class series in Peterborough.
Theo Martey of the Akwaaba Ensemble
Right now, we are in the planning stages to gauge interest. Here’s what we know now and how you can help make this happen:
This will be an outdoor class (held in a park – TBD depending on interest) on Sundays during the day OR Monday evenings.
Masks will be required and physical distancing will be practiced.
The class will be 75 minutes long with two mini-sessions – drumming first and then dance.
This is an all ages class! However, we ask that parents accompany children (if parents are not participating in the class, they must remain on site and responsible for their child at all times).
Cost: $20 per person per class (or $30 for a parent with a child under 10 years old). This series of 4 classes will require pre-registration and commitment to the duration of the series (though you will only be billed when class is held). This is out of respect for the distance Theo will travel to teach us.
We need the commitment of min. 17 participants to confirm the series, so please submit the form below if you are interested. As soon as we reach enough participants, we will email you to register.
[UPDATE 7/5/20: We’re almost there!]
Please help us spread the word so we can start dancing and drumming ASAP!
Are you ready to feel the rhythm?
Please feel free to email us directly with more questions or with/for more information.
